B+W lens filters are the BMW of the camera filter world They beat all if not most lens when it comes to reflective/cloudy light situations giving you superior clearity. This variant is suppose to increase cut back of UV rays. I brought this after seeing my camera lens get dirty forcing me to clean repetitively. After buying and using some Pec pacs and cleaning fluid via my lens it was ready to go. Experience the most clearest view unless an industrial/Film/Hollywood/corporate standard exist above this. The lens is suppose to be made out bronze material giving the most decent fit for a filter. However some variants are actually Aluminum due the nature/use of the lens itself. This lens series is a nano coated lens targeted at digital users. The regular variant of this lens is far more thicker and might not allow the lens cap to fit over it. ............................ I brought a second pair after my first pair was smashed due to impact. I am happy that my $2000+ dollar lens did not break instead of this $99 filter. The only problem I am seeing on other forums is that it is hard to remove the lens ( which is good when it is not cracked ) I had to use special pair of utensils to pry off the lens. Point being is the B+W does the job it was meant to do. Provide UV protection as well prevent constant cleaning of lensRead full review

Ok, this is just common sense. You paid a lot of money for your premium lens. Don't place a cheap filter to place in front of it. Buy a filter that's as good as the lens itself. I've found that these B&W filters are extremely high quality, and a great match for the Canon "L" type lenses I use. The UV serves to general use and is also a protector for the lens. When I use a circular polarizer I use B&W also. It's a superior product.

I own few such filters, and 77mm is the normal diameter for most of my lenses. It has no cast on colors, cleans well and not easily scratched. Also, very little to none vignette effect on wide lenses (EF-16-35 on FF). It is my default and favorite UV and lens protection filter.

When pairing filters with expensive lenses, buy the best. I started using B+W for all my lenses and have been super happy. They are more expensive than many, but well worth the money.
