Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Decoders
I tried two of these (the first bought on Ebay, and the second its replacement) before I finally found the trick to installing it successfully. The Bachmann instructions show you how to do it, and they warn you about static electricity and bending pins, but they left out one thing - you have to push down very hard on the module until all the pins click into place. I took the second module and my Heisler to my favorite train dealer, and their expert in DCC made it work in a matter of a minute. He had the touch to push the module down just right, and it was making its great loco sounds in moments. I appreciated that he didn't charge me, but it was not a short drive. Just be sure you line up the module correctly, and press down hard. You'll love it.

I would not have purchased this sound module if I had known that it does not support DDE programming. As a result, the "chuff" sound, while nicely timed with the drive train, does not vary with load. When brakes are applied, the chuff remains constant in intensity down to the dead stop. It is like the brakes and the throttle are fighting each other all the way down. Really irritating! I replaces this unit and the stock motor decoder with a Econami sound decoder and got much better results. Of course, if DDE means nothing to you, you might like this item just fine.
