Radio does not come programmed for easy standard use..it has to be programmed manually..using cables and cds..not supplied..but can be bought with the radio or seperately for extra money..or manually type in frequencies to store for standard uhf in channel mode.. Apart from initial setup this a pretty good radio for the price at a fraction of the cost of name brands...its not as good a quality obviously but you could buy several and have backups.. It has a few extra features which do come in handy..For eg A small torch which can also flash an fm radio and an alarm.. Overall i would give it a 7 or 8 out of 10 mainly due to price and extra features

The radio looks good and seems to perform but my main complaint is that the battery pack is listed as a B8 which is a model number they already use, why did Baofeng not stay with the normal 7.4v charger instead of going to a unit with exactly the opposite pin contacts ,weird!.

Excellent handheld VHF/UHF. its a shame its not waterproof, because if it was, then it would be perfect. The stock antenna is passable but inadequate as all standard antennae are. Get yourself a 3-6dbi antenna depending on how much antenna length you're prepared to live with, and this lil thing will give you all the range you could want. I have no idea how to work the relay and encryption stuff but I've heard this brand are quite decent when it comes to those extras.

The product is a very good performer in my Hobby of Ham Radio. It has many good features that make it very versatile.

It is very similar to UV-82 but a bit cosmetic changes. The only thing that I didn't love is that antenna housing is narrow and I cannot able to use my regular 3rd party antennas with it. Earlier I was using UV-5R and have been using that with many different antennas. To use my antennas I should replace my radio.
