I have owned Bat Out of Hell on vinyl since the time of its release in 1977. Anybody from that time period will not have to be reminded as to what a tremendously huge success the album was. By the time 1993 came around, grunge had been around for several years, and other genres had come and gone and many still remained in various incarnations, so Bat Out of Hell II: Back into Hell did not even cross my radar, apart from radio and tv playing of the huge opening track 'I'll Do Anything For Love (but I won't do that), and not withstanding that the album spent a few months at the top of the Australian charts. Enough with background. Succinctly put, this is really a very good follow-up to Bat Out of Hell, even putting aside that it was released 16 years later. If you thought Meat Loaf by then may have lost some of his gravitas and great vocal power, as with me, you would be very wrong. I bought Bat Out of Hell II on CD because my daughters fell in love with the first 'Bat' album of what eventuated as a trilogy. I then bought the first album on CD also so my daughters could listen to both albums in their rooms. Think back to the great memories associated with the first 'Bat' album, and then do yourself a favour and grab a copy of 'Bat II', I seriously doubt you will be disappointed.Read full review
