This comedy holds up better than most and is a MUST see for Keanu Reeves fans. It might surprise most to remember/learn how his dimwitted, comic performances first started to earn him a living as an actor. He shows much more charisma in this energized performance of a young teenager teamed with his best friend Alex Winters in the efforts of forming WYLD STALLIONS, a rock band. Despite not really knowing how to play their insturments. The movie storyline sets up the premise beautifully: as sometime in the future all civilization has found peace and prosperity thru the musical talents of these two. We learn that this future is in jeopardy though as the band may never be should Keanu's character fail his history class and be shipped to military school in Alaska. In order to prevent this, the future society elects to send the boys a time machine and a kindly wise cracking advisor, RUFUS. (George Carlin in a underrated and subdued role with some killer lines). With a nod to Dr. Who fans the time machine is disguised as a phone booth circa the late 1980s (a relic in of itself now due to cell phones. lol) Rufus arrives as the boys are studying and gives them a brief tutorial and sends them off to find historical figures to aid in their history final report. What ensues is a comedy of errors and gags involving figures from all over history. You'll see Billy the Kid, Socrates, Abe Lincoln, Genghis Kahn, Beethoven and more. Along the way the boys actually learn a few things and opt to apply themselves to their music. You'll thrill to see how it all comes together. This one is a real classic!Read full review
This is brilliant, and has inspired many imitations, but none come close to this unique, goofy comedy that reminds me more of the silent screen gems than of what has passed for funny in recent years. The pairing of Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves was a stroke of genius...they work so well together, and are so convincing as naive airheads that some people, DUH ! actually believe this is what these marvelous actors are like in real life..NOT ! This is great acting, folks. Wonderfully written, the premise is hilarious and all the characters so perfectly cast. I love Al Leong as Genghis Khan. His antics in the mall never fail to make me roar with laughter..."we've got a live one !". With every viewing, I see more details to amuse me...and it has an endearing, sweet spirit that warms my heart...and always remember: "Be excellent to each other !".Read full review
Here is clean and very funny Dubbed "Stoner Movie". A very cleaver and funny movie that features a now Mega super star and and his best friend as they are given a rare opportunity to travel threw time in order to gain research for there final speech which has grave consequences on the real world future. A very well produced movie of dreamers and miracles that still have a base which can be shared with kids today. Which is lot better then what schools are like today. As at any time at any school anywhere both sides of the border, from big cities to remotest parts lives changes in second and thousands of people suffer from the violence that is today.
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is a must see! Bill and Ted are two fun-loving optimistic teenagers who just happen to influence history through their band the Wyld Stallyns. The way this movie is written is outstanding and the characters are well defined and hilarious. One will meet several historical dudes (and one babe) as you journey with the dynamic duo through time in the futuristic phone booth. I must warn you, you'll never think of Billy the Kid, Socrates (so-krates), or Abraham Lincoln in the same way once you watch this movie! It's on my top-5 movies of all time list, and it is highly recommended! [note: despite it's PG rating, there are a few words that might be offensive for family viewing] For more info about this excellent movie, check out the official site: www.billandted.orgRead full review
Arguably one of the greatest movies of all time, a lovable pair of friends who keep their smarts well-hidden from their teachers are on a mission to stay together no matter what. World peace hinges on the success of their trek through time. This movie has it all — psychiatry, outlaws, ancient rulers and figures, malls, babes, and water slides. This film is a veritable time capsule of the best of the 80s. Can’t recommend it highly enough!
