From the day I received this book until I went on vacation for Labor Day it has been by my side. I got home late and forgot it this morning. Today I feel naked without it. I can't wait until I can get home and find it, read a few pages to remind myself why it works and move on to making meals. I have read Dr. Phil's swill and Oprah's mantra along with hundred's of other self help books over the 40+ years I have been living with obesity. I would consider myself somewhat of an expert on diet failures and successes. The Bread for Life Diet is written for the everyday person. It is written by a doctor with more college years under her belt than I have lived at a single residence. She writes for me and everyone who can't get through the $100 words and psycho babble that so many others write to make themselves sound important. The Bread for Life Diet book was easy to navigate. What anyone truly interested in a new "way of life" will do is go for the pages with the daily meals and allotments. After we read what we can and cannot eat we will read the other parts that say why and how much. I found those pages right away and was intrigued with her writing style enough to read on before I decided how I was going to approach this new way of life. I can't say that it has worked for me yet, I am still working on that. I have read 3/4 of the book though and understand more about why it will work when I do it right and why eating -- what we fat people have always been told was bad for us -- bread is good. I haven't found that good tasting bread she refers to, but I will. And in my search I am finding there are many 40 calorie breads that I can use for my 6 veggie sandwiches I get to eat all day and night. This book will turn your thinking on its ear. Before you start to read it go to the NEW pyramid of food and see how it has changed. Bread, legumes, starches are on the bottom largest section and fruit is now near the top. Along with dairy at the top. You can still have these things, but VERY restrictive. Its all in the glycemic balance of your body. I know that veggie sanwiches don't sound good, but the right bread and seasoning with a ripe juicy tomato and smelly onion, sprouts and red leaf lettuce tastes great, especially when it is the size of a dagwood. trust me you aren't hungry after that meal. Then you get to do that again in 3-4 hours. Buddy does that add up. We all know what we should and shouldn't eat, its the way it is presented to us that makes a difference. This book presents food in an appetizing, friendly atmosphere. Now if I could get off my butt and exercise I'd be doing even better. I haven't found a book for that yet, but I will. Maybe self hypnosis next time. What do you think? Read this book for content and you will not be disappointed. It was by far the best reading I've done in a long time. And my walls are lined with books I've read over the years. Enjoy!Read full review
I was very pleased with the book ..when it came for some reason for that low price I thought it would be a paper back ,. but it was a hard copy and it looked brand new ..it was really a beautiful book and the diet is good too and I've been very strict following it .......although you do lose very slowly,. you don't ever stay hungry and it's a diet you can stay on the rest of your life.

Book was easy to read and follow. I have had it just a short time and I've lost 11 pounds. It's great for those of us who cannot give up our bread!
This diet is certainly different than any I have seen before. It reads well in terms of what it will do for you. I'm still in the reading phase and have not as yet tried it, but I'm close. I like not having to count calories and being able to eat bread to keep you full. But will see.
