The Cisco 520 router is designed to bring to reality the concept of Cisco Unified Communications 520 for Small Business. Accordingly, this Cisco router is capable of handling voice, wireless, video, automated attendant, security, and voicemail in one unit. This Cisco 520 router is built with an eight-user configuration that includes eight PoE ports as well as eight other ports. They are four PSTN trunks and four analog ports. Another VIC slot on this eight-port router serves as an expansion slot. LAN switching and routing on this Cisco router is managed by an Ethernet switch that enables the eight 10/100 Mbps PoE ports. Stateful Packet Inspection serves as a security feature of this eight-port router. This router supports up to 10 virtual private networkings, secured by triple DES encryption, advanced encryption standard (AES), and data encryption standard (DES). The Cisco router permits secure WLAN connectivity by supporting a WLAN access point. This capability allows the use of WLAN telephony and access to data applications through a wireless medium.
