The HTC-2LT that I received was new in blister pack although probably old stock. I down-rated this item because the two pre-installed CR2016 cells were dead on arrival. Although there was a small sticker advising the user to remove the battery protection film, there was no sign of the film used to prevent factory installed cells from being drained in transit. To assure the cells would drain, the on/off switch shipped from the factory in the ON position. A quick trip to the grocery and $10 netted me two new CR2016 cells. Once installed, the LED works fine. However, it is tricky to separate the plastic battery/LED holder from the mirror itself. The mirror is held fast with two plastic prongs, one on each side. Normal tugging on these will NOT budge the mirror. Try too hard and the prongs will break (as reviewers elsewhere have noted). It took two tricks to solve this puzzle. The first trick is to push on the back of the mirror itself through the gaps in the plastic assembly. While doing that, the second trick is to use a sharpened flat-edged tool like a putty knife to pry the space between a plastic prong and the metal bezel of the mirror. Done carefully, this will fold back the plastic just enough for the mirror to pop out (that's why you apply pressure to the back of the mirror). In actual use, the HTS-2LT is what it is. The 2 3/8" flat mirror offers a limited viewpoint and the LED also has limited illumination size and power. But this is the tool you turn to when there's no other way to glimpse what you need, so you work with it.Read full review
