The kit mostly fits together well, but as it is supplied crates a dummy loco. I have fitted the body on to a Lima Deltic chassis by some trimming inside the body parts and got a good result, but it is necessary to be patient in painting and finishing to get a good result. I bought this latest kit to obtain items missing from a vry old kit that I have only just assembled. Tip If the long parts are distorted straighten them after warming them with a dunk in warm water or a hair dryer.

The parts to be assembled were very poor in detail and the larger sections were badly deformed leading to a poor overall finish. They would not fit together without major rework. Shame as the loco it was modelled from is an impressive machine. Well you only get burned once!!

I bought this kit to motorize. I found it to be easy to construct. The parts had a lot of flash and once that was removed all went well I now own a deltic dp1. That would set you back £ 234 at the only outlet that sells them. Mine cost me under£50. I am really pleasd with the finished kit

These are great old kits to put together and will convert into a lovely Prototype Deltic for your layout at a fraction of the [silly money] cost of a ready made one, using a chassis of your choice. The only negative comment I will make against this kit is due to the age of the moulds there is now an awful lot of flashing to be removed from the model before you can begin to assemble it. Maybe with all the money that Dalpol makes from this model they might need to consider a new mould soon, they do apologise on the packet. This mould certainly doesn't own anyone anything. So to conclude a really nice kit to make and paint up with care will do your layout proud, mine is now running on a modified 3-rail Hornby Dublo chassis and looks great!

Thought this model would be easier than previous ones I've made in this series but it ain't!! Biggest issue is the paint job which looks easy but is very fiddly. Having said all that, this was a very satisfying model to make and, with a little care and a lot of patience produces a very handsome model.
