I purchased the DELUXE EDITION coffin box set. Not the Limited Edition with autographed photo of Jonathan Frid . After 5 years of owning, I am still watching. So much to enjoy. Brings back great nostalgic memories of the 60's. Used to watch with my mother when it first came on. The coffin box is cheaply manufactured & the hinges aren't sturdy but I reinforced mine with black duct tape. Not buying the for the box but the dvds. Clarity is a bit old school but great remastered quality. They didn't have the best audio back then either. Don't expect perfection but well worth the investment for true fans who remember. Don't think I will ever give mine up or let go of it! ~^••^~ Only wish they had included the original 60's tv commercials. (they did on a few early episodes) ~^••^~ HAIL BARNABAS. LOL.Read full review

I bought the COMPLETE series of Dark Shadows.....ILOVE it! every episode, every gaff, missed line, microphones and cameras in scenes, so many great memories. AND I saved over $400 dollars on the retail price for the complete set.. I only have one complaint...The box cover is very poorly designed and the cardboard corners are very fragile and in the two weeks I have had the set, I have already split 2 corners opening the box.

Finally all the episodes in one spot! Now I can see everything that I missed years ago. I couldn't watch most of the episodes since I was in school while it aired. I had my Mom tape record the episodes for me. This was way before the time of VCRs. It wasn't as good as watching but it was something. Now I can watch everything from beginning to end.

Coffin box could've been better made.. seams very weak. I used scotch tape to reinforce. Everything else as advertised. Wife and I enjoy watching each episode, and laughing at the gaffs by the cast, and crew. At the same token we are enjoying the story line.

I was born in 1959, which means "I was there" when the series ran. First few years it was way too scary (my older sister watched religiously). The release of Tim Burton's feature film Dark Shadows prompted me to see if Netflix was running the original series - they were, but only a segment as they started with the first Barnabus episode when Willie Loomis opens his coffin and continues for only 160 episodes. My husband is from Europe and had no recollection about this series. He watched on netflix and was hooked very quickly. We were so bummed out when the Netflix holding ran its course. Back in May 2012 I found this new offering. The price tag gave me reason to pause, but not for long. There was major excitement at our house when the boxed series arrived. The packaging is awesome. My husband believes this purchase was the best use of $400 we ever made. The quality is excellent and the interviews interspersed are special treats. Notwithstanding the gafs here and there for which Dark Shadows is famous for (wrong lines, stage hands visible, fly on noses, etc..) and the High Camp that makes one chuckle no and then, this is by no means a comedy but rather an extremely well-written and well-acted melodrama about the lives of characters one comes to care greatly about. I expected this purchase to be worthwhile and in just a few weeks has become a most prized possession. Thank you to all of the industry professionals whose hard work produced this masterpiece, and of course, thank you to the actors/actresses for touching our hearts.Read full review
