Additional information
This 1968 album showcases the lost talents of the folk-psych outfit Chrysalis in their only release. CD contains 8 bonus tracks. Personnel: J. Spider Barbarous (vocals, guitar); Ralph Kotkov (vocals, keyboards); Dahaud Elias Shaar (percussion). Liner Note Authors: J. Spider Barbarous; Ralph Kotkov. Author: Richard South. Though they were one of the most interesting bands of their era, late-1960s psychedelicists Chrysalis only managed to release one album, which slipped through the historical cracks for decades before getting reissued 37 years later. Led by Spider Barbour, the Upstate New York band mixed psychedelic rock with folk and orchestral pop flavors for a rich, diverse sound. "Dr. Root's Garden" got some play on progressive/underground radio at the time, but unfortunately, the band didn't last long enough to follow up the one-off (nearly) lost gem DEFINITION.
