The DP-6000 was the last of the broadcast turntables made by Nippon Columbia (DENON) before vinyl records started being phased out in favor of Compact Disc. Rather than concentrate on "House Music" and "Club DJ" equipment, DENON decided to make Compact Disc players. Their original CD machines were terrible. The ones from Kyoto Ceramics (Kyocera) were better. It wasn't until Nakamichi entered the CD player market that things became "audiophile" quality for CD players. Meanwhile, those of us who still had expensive vinyl record collections needed top quality turntables. This was our "go to" turntable. The DP-100 was more money than a new car. Nobody I knew could afford one. They still sell for more money than a new car.
