Dirty Blankets is an instrumental collection recorded in the old School Book Depository warehouse in Albuquerque's South Valley. The CD includes old fiddle tunes, often dramatically rearranged, along with a slew of originals. Dirty Blankets features Steven Robert Allen on banjo, Robert Brettelle on guitar, Michael Henningsen on bass and Michael Polera on violin. Here's what people have to say about Young Edward: Young Edward cranks out some fine Americana bluegrass. --The Daily Lobo One of the few bluegrass quartets in Albuquerque that plays live regularly at clubs not necessarily known to host bluegrass or old-timey music. A solid mix of traditional numbers, Americana and a few choice covers make Young Edward one of a few bands in town that appeal to a wide audience that includes rock kids and crusty, cynical alt.country aficionados who pine for the days of Uncle Tupelo. --Weekly Alibi Young Edward makes a point of renovating old music, retaining the roots but grafting new influences onto the trunk. ... They've also been known to throw in a heavy metal tune or two that's been 'downdated.' --Albuquerque The Magazine Groups like Young Edward ... have been able to pack the Albuquerque Press Club or entertain at a growers' market and bring in a whole new demographic that 10 years ago might have not thought twice about bluegrass. --Albuquerque Journal The Growers' Market at Robinson Park is so much more than organic veggies and great art--it's a party. There was a great old timey music/bluegrass band today: Young Edward ... and all three played and sang beautifully, alone and in harmony. --Dukecityfix.com [T]hese guys had it all. ... I hope to hear more from Young Edward. [T]hey know how to get that beautiful high lonesome sound just right. --WigWamBam.
