Back in May of 1975, Elvis Presley stepped into the RCA recording studios in Hollywood throughout a 4-day session. This marked the last time he would record in a studio. The result was the classic 1975 album, "Today", which was first released a month later in June. Unlike several of his other 70s studio albums which had a decidedly Pop, R&B or Gospel feel to them, this album basically is a Country album at its best. It turns out that the Country charts were giving Elvis his best placements. The 10 songs collected on "Today" certainly reflect what was going on in Country Music at that time. He gives very unique interpretations of "And I Love You So", which was a Pop hit for Perry Como; "Fairytale", a huge Country hit for The Pointer Sisters; "I Can Help", which was a number one song for Billy Swan; and the classic "Green, Green Grass Of Home". Lesser-known songs are also featured. Among them are the up-tempo "Susan When She Tried"; the waltz "Woman Without Love"; the ballads "Shake A Hand" and "Bringing It Back"; and "Pieces Of My Life", which almost sounds like an Elvis biography in song. However, the really true stand-out track on this album is the opening selection; it is the highly-charged rocker called "T-R-O-U-B-L-E". This song would later become a big hit for Travis Tritt. What you have here is vintage mid-70s Elvis at its finest, and it is thrilling to have this album on CD.Read full review
Here we have Elvis' album from 1975. It's an awesome LP. I really enjoy. I love the first single from the LP T-R-O-U-B-L-E. He really rocks. He does a superb job on Green, Green Grass Of Home. Billy Swan's I Can Help never sounded better. In fact in my opinion Elvis does it better. This album is worth buying. You can get it on the collector's label FTD double CD. I also have the original LP and Singles. Another great song is Shake A Hand. The list goes on and on. Find it buy it.
The early seventies were a wonderful time for the music Elvis was recording. His music choices and Elvis himself had grown, and became the best of his career. This is one of the CDs I enjoyed on an album that I still have. His beautiful voice, and the music he was exploring at this time has no comparison. I loved the album, and will love listening to the CD for many years.
Great item for the price.

This is a pretty good release from Elvis in the 70's. Hearing him sing T-R-O-U-B-L-E, SUSAN WHEN SHE TRIED and I CAN HELP is worth the price of the cd alone. FAIRYTALE is another good song on this cd. He sang this song in most of his concerts in the 70's, so he must have liked this song also. AND I LOVE YOU SO and GREEN GREEN GRASS OF HOME are also well sung.
