This is one of the most interesting books that I've read in a long time. I learned things I never knew while enjoying a good storyline. I have recommended it to a number of people and loaned my copy to a friend. Upon reading the first few chapters I was prepared to discard the book as a biased treatise, but as I continued to read I recognized that actually the author gave a complete description of both sides of the Palestine/Israel conflict. At the same time it was a good mystery read. I bought the book only because Patterson wrote it-not knowing what it was about. I have always enjoyed his books. My only criticism of it was that it was slightly too long and repetitive. (I certainly got a lot for my money-pound wise!) After reading this book I, unfortunately, have come to recognize that this conflict will never be resolved.Read full review
Although this is a fictional love story Patterson gets it exactly right when going into detail on the Israeli - Palestinian conflict. This is something every American should read to get the facts straight. Several months ago I listened to the unabridged audio book and enjoyed it very much. At the end Mr. Patterson was interviewed on CNN which I thought unusual but it was actually due to the fact that he visited the areas described in the book so that he could get a better feel for what these people live through on a day-to-day basis. Read it or listen to it and you will not be disappointed.

Outstanding fictional accounting wrapped around the Middle East as it exists today. Would really be interesting to see how the U.S. would react were something like this to really occur. I have already passed the book on to family in less than two weeks. I couldn't put it down.
I bought this book for a Book Club. It was a page turner & very timely. I learned about the Palestinean & Israli situation in depth. It was well written & showed both sides of the endless need for peace in the middle east.
