I bought this unit as a replacement for one I purchased around two months earlier. The earlier one had a manufacturing defect such that the two shafts for the intermediate reduction gears were not parallel. That resulted in some of the reduction gears not meshing. In the replacement unit the two shafts for the intermediate reduction gears were parallel. The replacement motor and gearbox (incorporating some parts from the first one I bought) is now installed on my Peco OO gauge turntable. It works fine but is very noisy. I will experiment with lower motor speeds (to reduce the noise) when I install the turntable on my layout.

another great addition to my model railroad. and the company is very good from a customer service perspective. though I had an issue with the gearbox assembly, I was able to get a replacement without issue.

At 3v the gears are noisy and at 6v the gears absolutely squeel. The reason being there is no gear retaining collars on any of the three spindles. The output gear is effectively used to try and stop movement. However there is too much slack in the output shaft and the output gear grinds on the last gear wheel no clearance. I have made collars using Albion tubing to rectify the poor design.

A poor product which is incredibly noisy and would spoil any sound effects a model railway may have. I'm replacing this with a silent motor. A waste of money.
