Additional information
This best-of collects well-known songs from throughout the yodeling singer Jimmie Rodgers' short career, including his first recording, "Soldier's Sweetheart," and his first major hit, "Blue Yodel," also known as "T For Texas." Rodgers' combination of folk ballads, blues, and vaudeville songs, which led to his often being cited as one of the founders of modern country music, is also well represented here on tracks like "A Drunkard's Child," "Blue Yodel No. 4," and "In the Jailhouse Now," sung in a style that was to influence subsequent generations of performers, including Gene Autry and Ernest Tubb.
