I purchased this textbook for a Masters level introductory to accounting class. The course was a self study course with weekly meeting with the professor. I had very little knowledge of accounting prior to taking the course. The body of the chapters was for the most part well written and informative. I was able to tie the information together with previous knowledge of finance, and understand it from an accounting aspect. However, the end of chapter problems are poorly conceived and not well written. Most weekly meetings with the professor were spent trying to interpret the author's intent, rather than working to understand the actual issues dealt with in the chapters. It was very frustrating trying to decipher the confusing problems. I would not recommend this book to anyone who does not have at least a basic understanding of accounting principles. If you're looking for an introduction to accounting with exercises to reinforce the knowledge gained through reading the material, this is not the book for you. If all you’re interested in is the written information, than consider it. Hopefully the author will seek assistance from an experienced accounting professor and update the problems in future editions.Read full review
