The Apple iBook has a well-earned reputation for being a problematic choice as a used notebook. This 600mhz. G3 iBook isn't a great choice for web surfing. It's too slow, RAM tops off at only 640MB. Flash won't work with the PowerPC CPU. So no streaming videos. Don't buy it for Photoshop, or Video Processing either. Yes, it can run OS-X Tiger, a fairly modern MacOS. It's best thought of as a petite workbook you don't mind losing or damaging IF you find one in the right condition with a good battery at a good price. The video "chip" becomes loosened over time from heat. It doesn't help that it's mounted on the bottom of the motherboard with only a relatively thin metal shield to try and help it lose that heat. There are internet pages out there to help you attempt to repair the video problem which involves a heat gun, some luck and improved heat transfer and cooling methods. I made mine work using a hair dryer, a metal slab from a heat sink, heat sink grease and some thick feet to improve airflow to the bottom of the laptop. I bought my iBook for use with an external USB floppy drive to test and repair very old 1.4MB floppy disks.
