Great shows. Nice to see some of the old ones come back for viewing. What I like about it, is the meaning behind the "angel" sent by God to help those in need. Michael Landon plays a really heartfelt role that has left me in tears many times through some shows. Mark the lighthearted of the two makes you laugh. I love the actor, and has himself directed some of the shows. There may not be an angel seen by everyone, but God is there. For all who need Him. What I did dislike about it, is the more uplevel language heard throughout the shows. More so, for the time it was made, hoping to get more viewers to watch. I can do without the bad language, and do not remember it being in there when I was younger. There is not need for it, and I do not believe in young people needing to hear it, and use it themselves. Enough preaching on that. The shows are good, and have some good stories about them. People helping people, loving, and trusting. Faith is the key for anything. Love, Trust,..and Relationships..to keep going. The shows do not get into preaching, mostly they show more about loving each other, and believing in each other. Different from Touched By and Angel. One show Mark sells his soul to the devil. This is on Halloween, and the show is spooky in a funny sort of way. The devil appears only to find himself tricked! It was funny.Read full review
Yes, this show tends to be a little preachy and has some very sappy themes and episodes but maybe why this is such a refreshing series to watch. If you make it past the sappiness, and get through an episode it always seems to make you feel better after watching it. It is hard to act a campy script well ... but the cast really does a good job with the help of some well known guest stars. This is probably one of the best seasons of the show and it is really easy to watch the episodes. These are a great flashback to the 80s and I really wish they made TV shows like this today. In one episode they literally edited the word 'damn' out of the final cut 2 times because it may have been 'harsh' for the audience of the show. Today when seeing so much violence on TV and watching kids idolize murdering drug dealers who rap as their role models ... and shallow spoiled girls like Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan ... it is refreshing to take a trip back to a time when morals meant something. These are great to watch with children or just as a reminder of simpler times. There are a lot of funny moments surprisingly ... the way the actors play off each other and the friendship between Michael Landon and Victor French is very evident. If you are looking for great cinemetography or Oscar winning storylines this is not a good show for you. If you are looking for a nice little diversion and some feel good cheese, this is a great show to take your mind off the bad things. I enjoyed it! The episodes are preachy but fun.Read full review
My mom and I used to sit and watch Highway to Heaven when it was on TV. I lost her a few years ago and when I saw this on EBay I jumped on it. It is so much fun to watch and see the characters I grew up with and to see Michael Landon. There is a wonderful commentary and Michael's wife talks about Michael and it is really a wonderful addition to this set. I shared these with my 11 year old daughter. These shows teach good values and show how by love and patience we can all help each other in different ways. I like how they show that God is with us and watching over us. It doesn't highlight a specific religion it just highlights a belief in God, making this a great DVD for a variety of beliefs or for those searching for something to believe in. If you like fun and laid back TV watching with no violence or bad language then this is the series for you. I look forward to purchasing additional seasons as I find them.Read full review
Wow, we were really happy with this series. The setting is the early 80's, with themes somewhat similar to those in the "Touched by an Angel" series. Inspirational, real life situations are walked through in each episode. I especially have enjoyed the episode where the retirement home was going to be sold. The elderly are so lovable and fun. One other episode that stands out, is "Bless the Boys in Blue" about stress the police force face carrying out everyday duties. Kids affected by cancer face the future bravely, and love to have fun at camp in another episode. We would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for good clean entertainment.
i decided to buy it because lost season3,24season6, jericho, and prison break season2 arent out yet and i prefer to watch dvds at my leisure to watching television. i enjoy watching highway to heaven because it is wholesome entertainment. also 24 episodes for $9 is a steal. the episodes are usually well written and you can get a good laugh from the outdated slang and clothes. plus the Christian morals are seldom shown on tv
