Previously I (permanently) fitted a UV filter on my DSLR lenses but, having read that digital cameras are largely unaffected by UV, I tried these clear glass protective 'filters'. I can say they work just as well, with no identifiable difference in the recorded image. I now use clear glass 'filters'; they are also slightly cheaper than UV filters. These Hoya filters are very well made, thin and lightweight, I recommend them.
