This is my 2nd HD. (The first didn't like to go swimming with me, and chucked the sad's, and never wanted to work again...??) I bought the Explorer as a cheaper replacement...great phone, mini HD with similar operating system, excellent battery performance, but I missed the HD video recorder & more importantly the 8 mp camera with Auto Focus. Disadvantage of HD is the damn short battery life.. :'( Otherwise a highly recommend phone, if you can get one. (Oh, and don't take it swimming !!)
I love the features on this phone and its easy to use, which is an advantage when yur technologically challenged like me! I am disappointed with the battery life tho, if im using it alot thru the day the battery will die b4 the end of the day, which is annoying, all in all its a good easy phone to use
This is the first Smart phone that I have had and I am very happy with it. The 4.3" screen is huge with very good definition, just perfect for the Internet. It is very fast on the Internet when using 3G signified by a H (HSPA) at the top of the display. You need to make sure you buy the one suitable for your carrier as the Telstra (model A9192) will work on 2G with the other carriers but not on 3G hence it will be slower. If you use a carrier other than Telstra, make sure you buy the one (Model A9191) suitable for their 3G networks ie Optus, Vodaphone. I am still working my way around the Android operating system but it seems quite user friendly and is used now on the majority of big name Smart Phone makers. I object to the Apple Iphone's insularity from other makes and the comparative high cost of their stuff although my son has an iPhone4 and he loves it. This HTC Desire HD phone was an excellent buy at just over $300 on ebay. One of the features on this phone I like is I can use it as a wireless Hotspot and connect to it from my Laptop when my wireless download balance gets low on the laptop. It is just as fast as my wireless dongle on my laptop. In fact if you get the right data plan on the your phone, you could probably do away with the wireless dongle on your laptop altogether and just connect to the Internet through this Smartphone. It is very simple to set up. When I received the phone there was only a startup guide in the box but I found the full user-guide on the SD card which was included with the phone. It is also available as a PDF at the HTC site.Read full review
It's a great phone. If you can fit the large sized screen in your pocket/handbag then it's a great buy. HTC Sense interface is always a winner. Sadly, as with most smartphones it's not that amazing for phone calls and feels a bit odd against the face due to its size. But then... who makes phone calls these days?!
Phones have not progressed that much since this beauty was made. A big screen and all the features of 3G. Battery life is so-so. It needs charging once a day. Now that they are two years old they are much more affordable.
