I bought this book as a gift for a friend that loves entertaining. My daughter also loves cooking and bought one for herself using a gift coupon she received. After having browsed through the pages and having seen Heston on TV, I couldn't resist going to ebay and finding one for myself. I like the way Heston analyses everything he makes from scratch and yet his recipes and pictures are easy to follow and beautifully illustrated. I think this book makes a great gift. I haven't found anything to dislike. There are many cookbooks around from many brilliant chefs but if you are looking for a book you can use and be the topic of conversation at your dinner party - this is it.
I bought this book for my daughter who is a HUGE fan of Heston. She was so excited when she opened up and absolutely loves it. It's not as big a book as I expected but it has some very interesting info and pictures in it. Would recommend it.
