Author Biography
I am a motivational speaker who has been serving in the Public School System for 15 years. Positions held range from substitute teacher and coach, to my current position as Principal of Patterson High School in the Baltimore City Public School District. As a Major Work student in the Cleveland Public Schools, I graduated from Glenville High School in 1990. While accumulating 10 varsity letters in football, basketball, and baseball, I also became the father of twin daughters during my junior year of high school. I graduated from Kent State University (KSU) with a Bachelor's degree, where I'd earned a full athletic scholarship to play football. There, I eventually took over the starting role at cornerback and went on to have a string of 40 consecutive starts in games played. After earning All-Conference and All-American considerations, my N.F.L. pursuits eventually gave way to a torn Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). After graduating from KSU, and eventually earning a Master's Degree in 1998, I continued to develop and expand my skills as an educational leader. Outstanding leadership skills have led me to work in various principal positions throughout the public school system. My dream was to become a Hall of Fame football player in the National Football League (NFL). I held that belief since the third grade. That was my destiny until the day it became no more. It was within my grasp before it slipped away. Throughout my journey, I've realized that success and disaster are each one step away as you voyage simultaneously through both. My story can be used as a tool to help you stay directed on your chosen path. Struggles are needed to test your true belief in yourself and your ability to persevere. Based on my life experiences, I am able to provide various principles to motivate individuals past their life's circumstances. With all my accomplishments, the most enjoyable aspect of my present career, is talking to students in order to help them improve themselves. I also love to engage community members and parents. I want others to understand that although they may have had their lives ripped apart by tragedy, they can still keep going. I want others to learn through my story that your mindset can dictate and determine the outcome of your life.
