I found out that I was pregnant with identical twins at my 20 week ultrasound. I was honestly surprised because twins doesn't run in the family or my husbands. What most people don't know is that identical twins are not formed because it runs in the family but because the cell in which the genetic structure of the fetus is, spilts into two causing it to form two fetuses. In this movie they give you great information about what traits can be baised on genetics, and why in some cases one identical twin might have a genetic trait while the other doesn't. I would recommend for those women who don't know what to expect (like most) when pregnant with identical twins.
Incredible new release by National Geographic! Live "in the womb" video, accompanied by discussion of a variety of controversial topics, with special emphasis on identical twins. Introduces the study of epigenetics- a study of the chemical processes working within and without the genetic DNA strand to explain genetic-related differences in otherwise identical twins. Also discusses the concept of "nature vs nuture" in human development and some discussion about genetic vs hormonal influences on sexual orientation. Worth every penny!! Amazing DVD!
Excellent information and graphics. My daughter was pregnant with twins and wanted a source for educational purposes, this was excellent from National Geographic as always.
