Sabine Baring-Gould (28 January 1834 - 2 January 1924) was an English hagiographer, antiquarian, velist, and eclectic scholar. He is remembered particularly as a writer of hymns, the best-kwn being Onward, Christian Soldiers and Now the Day Is Over. He had a special interest in history, particularly Devon and Cornwall. His vel In the Roar of the Sea is a tale of the Cornish coast.
