I really enjoyed watching James Cameron's "Deep Sea Challenge". It is a very interesting adventure. The fact that Don Walsh was included in the program showed real class. The loss of two team members whose lives were tragically cut short due to an accident was handled with honor, dignity and respect. Mr. Cameron is a class act; he has certainly earned my admiration and respect. This film is probably deserving of a 5 star rating. There were a few things about the program that caused me to give it only 4 stars: 1. The audio was not in sync with the video. When people stopped talking (audio), their mouth continued to move for an additional 1-2 seconds (video). This isn't really a problem, but it was noticeable enough to be distracting. 2. In a program that lasted between 80 and 90 minutes, I wish there had been more footage of Mr. Cameron at the bottom of Mariana's Trench. I was disappointed that when the objective was finally reached, so little time in the program was devoted to the exploration of the Trench itself. 3. At the end of the documentary, as the credits began to be scrolled, a statement appeared which indicated that over 60 new species had been discovered as a result of this exploration. I would love for the program to have shown these, or at least a significant portion of them. Overall, the program is very good, and it is well worth the cost. I am thrilled to have it in my video collection.Read full review
Brilliant programme, has you on the end of your seat in terms of the organisation and eventual filming going down 36 thousand feet, as high as an aircraft, to the Mariana Trench. I purchased this dvd due to my interest in maritime archaeology and it did not disappoint. Well worth buying and highly recommended.5*****
