Additional information
This 1991 collection of hits from tender, truck-driving balladeer Jim Croce hits only some of the high marks of his career, capturing him at his rowdiest ("You Don't Mess Around with Jim," "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown") and sentimental, soft rock best ("New York's Not My Home," "Photographs and Memories," "I Got a Name" and "Time in a Bottle"). However, there is a lot missing here, including huge hits like "Operator (That's Not the Way It Feels)" and "I'll Have to Say I Love You in a Song." For completists, the two-disc Definitive Collection: Time in a Bottle set does a much better job at conveying Croce's gifted timelessness. ~ James Christopher Monger
