This review is of the most recent issue of the Korda production of Rudyard Kiplings JUNGLE BOOK from Umbrella Entertainment (david3522) The film has been presented on DVD in many forms and older issues have displayed a poor source material with washed out colour and print damage. Umbrella's transfer is sharper than any I have seen, and the colour is marginally better, but the print is still damaged throughout with scratches, large specks, pieces out of the emulsion and dirt marks. This is a great shame as the 1942 version is very watchable and faithful to the source material with young actor Sabu making for a very faithful Sabu, a convincing and real tigers, bears and wolves used, except for a very unconvincing crocodile. Korda's work deserves a better treatment on dvd. This dvd is presented in 1.33:1 original aspect and original mono sound, and the original artwork is a bonus.Read full review
