Being an Elvis fan to me the movies was fine. However, the advertising on the label was incorrect. I bought the movie because it was listed as being in "Widescreen Format". When I received it and finally played it, it was full screen - not widescreen. I am disappointed because I like seeing movies the way the director and producer wanted the film to be shown. That is why I like widescreen.

One of the finest Elvis films of the sixties is the remake of a 1930's boxing picture entitled "Kid Galahad". In this variation, Elvis stars as Walter Gulick, a young soldier discharged from the Army. With nowhere else to go, he winds up in Cream Valley, New York at a training camp for potential prize-fighters. Among the supporting cast are future Oscar-winner Gig Young as Willie Grogan, who runs the camp, is up to his neck in gambling debts and sees Walter as an easy way to make a quick buck. Lola Albright is Dolly Fletcher, Willie's long-suffering girlfriend who has waited too long for him to propose marriage. Joan Blackman, who previously appeared with Elvis in "Blue Hawaii", stars as Willie's kid sister Rose Grogan, who becomes attracted to Walter. Charles Bronson plays Lew, the camp trainer who helps to shape Walter into a top-notch contender. Veteran character actor David Lewis is prefect as gangster Otto Danzig, a shady hoodlum who sends two of his guys to the camp to keep an eye on Walter and make sure that he does not succeed in the ring. A great film with fine action and scenery. Songs featured are "King Of The Whole Wide World", "This Is Living", "Riding The Rainbow", "I Got Lucky", "Home Is Where The Heart Is" and "A Whistling Tune". A great motion picture that will thrill and delight Elvis fans of all ages.Read full review
