I bought this book to read to my 3 year old grandson. We had one of the stories in the series already and he likes me to read it to him when he comes to stay. I decided to collect all the books in the series, saving the Christmas story for the end of the year. I like the storyline and the language which is easy for small children to relate to. The illustrations remind me of the pleasure of my early years learning to read. They are skilfully drawn and lifelike, in a gentle way, to suit the stories they tell. This story is great for kids who may be fussy eaters as it describes a fun way of eating food using a train set. Very imaginative! I also like it because of its humour and natural turn of phrase. It would suit a range of ages as the drawings and text are quite detailed. I'm sure all my grandchildren will enjoy the story for years to come.Read full review
