Author Biography
What can love do? Love can make us feel wonderful...but love can trigger our fears and insecurities, too. I have found that creating and maintaining loving relationships can be a challenge--and learning to care deeply for myself has been, by far, my most challenging relationship experience of all... Perhaps that is why I chose to write this book; it is a story about people who want love and understanding--but they also need to love themselves--even when social judgments, fear, and insecurities threaten to overwhelm them. I think that working in human services professions as a counselor, teacher, and nurse has helped me to realize that there are no easy answers to life's questions. Social pressures can indeed restrict personal freedom. When people are afraid, terrible things can happen. But we all need love, and people must deal with fear, and with finding love in their own way. There are usually no -quick fixes, - but gaining insight through human interest stories like -Love on Ice- can help us to better understand ourselves, love ourselves...and love one another. In this novel, the characters deal with personal insecurities, social predjudice, and resolve their interpersonal conflicts. They try to meet their needs for love and understanding...and they try to face, and to overcome, their deepest fears. Relationships allow us to discover and share feelings of love and compassion for ourselves and others. Perhaps love is the answer to every question, but sometimes -real- love is not easy to define...or to express in our society. I hope this story inspires readers to find more love in their own minds and hearts--and to bring that love into our world. Peace to all, Mary Ray
