Got it used on "the bay" for a good price. Built strong and robust it has a slightly larger screen than most modern handheld GPS units and a larger footprint altogether. Though monochrome it may be, the base map is very good, contrast is adjustable and if the data and 12 volt cables can be found, this would be an updatable and extremely useful item. I liked it for the way it displayed the position and the multi screens, even useful for marine navigation and has POIs for that. There is even a provision for a split screen showing a close up and a broader view all changeable by the owner. Acquire time was not too slow though these are older units and many upgrades to GPS acquisition times have been made since then. I liked it but I'm a retro investigator, meaning I like to fool with old things! The best points are screen size, good base map with detail streets, built tough, many user functions and it has the Lowrance quality. Though many color screen do dad laden modern GPS units can be had for a little more, I liked being able to try how it was done in the past.Read full review
It's a good system if you don't have overly high expectations. The basic mapset doesn't drill down to the neighborhood level the way my old Handspring Visor w/Magellan plug-in module (running Map Solutions) did. The Lowrance locks signal very fast, even indoors and is easy to use. You need a special cable (usually not included and often the same cost as the GPS unit these days) to interface with your PC. For the caual user, I guess it would be OK, but I'm going to sell it off and get another Visor to replace the one I broke.
This gps unit it so simple and easy to use that even some old tard that cant get a grip on technology could find their way to the pharmacy. It as easy as reading a road map. Kind of large but and goes through batteries quickly. But if your 100 years old and need a gps to mount to your Hover round this is for you.
Used this same one to cross an ocean and navigate up waterways to Tennessee, Used it while in the Gold fields of California and all the way up into alaska for more prospecting, Used the world map during some work in the middle east, was able to down load area maps so I had info on roadways to get gone when I needed it. I keep one as a Backup to my primary and one also in my rapid ditch bag. I have had to navigate at night in storms and fog. A great Tool.
works like new, finds sats quick. Eats batteries though.
