The i7 Surface Pro 3 is a practical tablet with a high quality screen. The machine is reasonably quick - roughly 15% slower than the Pro 4 but suffers from a older graphics card. Having said that, for normal use it will handle everything. The biggest issue is the screen glass which is not the strongest and can break easily. For example shutting the typecover too firmly. This makes transportation and ancover essential. I ditched the typecover and bought a heavier folio with a Bluetooth keyboard to minimise the risk. Nevertheless if looked after is quite a useful device.

Great product for my requirements

I purchased this product because I wanted something smaller, more portable and lighter than my laptop. It fulfills all the criteria. It is a fully equipped computer with Windows 8.1 and plenty of RAM for my needs. I love that the removable keyboard (which is easy to use) makes it so versatile as a tablet. When travelling, a mobile wifi dongle in the USB port gives me access to internet wherever I am. The USB port also means I can connect to my camera and access photos. I can use it like a tablet or set it up, with its infinitely adjustable stand, as a full laptop. The only thing it doesn't have is a CD Rom drawer but the USB port allows me to enter anything I want and connect to a printer. For someone wanting absolutely everything in a laptop it would probably not do, but I am not a professional and don't want it to do high tech stuff, so, for me, the Surface Pro 3 has totally replaced my laptop and I would certainly buy it again.Read full review
