I bought this to use for university and as a replacement for my iPad 3 which I bought when it came out. Initially it is a bit of a shock not having access to all of the apps on the Apple store but the Microsoft Surface is the best tablet I have ever used. However, the main comparisons I make are between the Surface RT and the iPad because I have owned and used both daily. Surface Pros (compared to iPad) -larger screen and better ratio Although this is arguably a personal point, I prefer the 16:9 ratio of the Surface as most websites and, in fact, most anything these days is designed for this aspect ratio. The iPad's squarer display is better for tablet mode and gaming however for productivity, the 16:9 display is better. The screen quality itself is pretty decent however the 1366x768 resolution is quite distracting after coming from the beauty of a Retina display, but easily ignored when not looking at it up close. -productivity and connectivity Full size USB 2.0, this has to be the biggest advantage of the Surface tablet. Charging my phone in lectures, sharing files with team members, hooking up external hard drives, connecting peripherals like a wireless mouse (yes! mouse support on a tablet is actually very useful for web apps and word! which aren't completely touch friendly yet), there's so many uses for USB still that it would be arrogant to say it is no longer needed, unless you don't plan on doing anything productive with your tablet. The surface also comes with Word, Powerpoint, Excel and OneNote, all of which are full fledged programs with no limitations that I have encountered in my IT course. Skydrive syncing is infinitely superior to iCloud documents and once something is saved on my Surface, I can instantly open and edit it on my desktop PC at home, or from any other full-scale web browser on any computer with the online document editor, then jump right back to it on my surface when I need to go again. -Battery life Battery life is on par with the iPad yet offers so much more functionality that Windows RT finds more similarity with a laptop than any other tablet OS on the market today. -kickstand and keyboard covers The kickstand is one feature which lies in the "completely underestimated how useful this is" category. Being able to just prop the device up under its own command without assistance from the environment or a case is incredibly awesome and so useful. The keyboard covers, which just clip on and off are such a useful addition and again better than a case or standalone wireless keyboard which adds unnecessary bulk and weight or "where do I put this" when not in use. The trackpads, although not the best, still a welcomed addition over the iPads complete lack of pointer support. CONS: -no exe support Although this is also a con on the iPad, it is less forgivable on the Surface because it feels so much more useful and capable than the iPad does, that missing exe support feels like a revoked right rather than the accepted compromise it is on an iPad (and I mean full Mac OS applications on iPad, not exes). The fact that Microsoft has also locked out exe support for ARM applications which WOULD run on the Surface, but have not been processed through the Windows Store seems like a counterproductive move and is definitely an eyebrow raiser... -software bugs another minor issue with the surface is the occasional bug. Some of these bugs can quickly detract from the awesomeness of device but not enough to give it up.Read full review
This Microsoft Surface RT was bought as a non working item parts only, however the seller stated that some were working. I was lucky mine worked fine. The tablet itself had obviously had a hard life coming from a school environment with paint missing off the back and various dings. I think that the build is excellent and that's why it still works, with a an alloy case. The touch keyboard didn't work properly so I threw it away and ordered a new one. These are really good to use and when shut protect the screen. Battery life is good mostly a full day and the screen is responsive with smooth scrolling. I use a Bluetooth mouse with the tablet and it works really well. I would highly recommend this tablet to anybody who wants a good looking useful and (syncs with your desktop and Windows mobile) tablet.Read full review

I was surprised at the condition of this unit. The keyboard was not working but the main computer was excellent. I would have to say that for the cost this is a real bargain. There were no promises made on the condition of this tablet and I believe that at this price I have now got what I need for travel and at a good affordable price. The screen and the whole works of this MS RT 32 are in good working order.
