First off, make sure your laptop has a vent/grill that can have something like this attached to it. In theory, it pulls air out of the vent so your laptop can stay cooler. But I think in reality, it just eases the work on the internal fan that is pushing the hot air out. I stress tested my laptop while with and without the external fan and can say the temperature is about the same. It moves air fast enough that I feel it releases some stress on the internal fan as opposed to restricting airflow and actually making the inside fan work harder. So if you're looking to drop your temps by a lot, you might want to try another type of laptop cooler (perhaps the more traditional under the laptop type). If interested, I have the HP EliteBook 8470w, with the quadcore i7 that runs quite hot. And as expected, this thing is cheaply made. The LED is too bright and it rattles. You have to keep positioning it so that it limits the rattling or else it gets annoyingly loud on full speed.Read full review

Price matches quality. The disadvantage is fixing to a laptop. There are only two hooks attached to the laptop. So when moving, the cooler air can fall off, or it starts to work loudly. We stick it with a sticky tape.
