Released to celebrate his lengthy 50-year career in conjunction with his autobiography of the same name, Mister D is the 2011 album from Dick Rivers, who along with Johnny Hallyday and Eddy Mitchell is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of the French rock & roll scene. Produced by Oli Le Baron (Jean-Louis Aubert) and largely written by Jean Fauque (Alain Bashung), the follow-up to 2008's L'Homme Sans Age features his usual mix of blues-rock, country, and old-school R&B, and includes a tribute to Johnny Cash ("Johnny"), while the four-track bonus disc contains a cover of Nina Simone's "Fodder on Her Wings." ~ Jon O'Brien
