The General's views on leadership make for a good read. It's refreshing in the sense that it's not an over-inflation of how good he is, but instead an honest account of his development as a leader and the challenges he faced. You get a real sense of how much observation and self-reflection play a role in how he develops. This book is not just for military folk. The lessons he imparts on leadership are equally relevant in a commercial context. He's not perfect, but you get a good feel for what his key leadership themes are; lead by example, collaborate, know the culture of your followers and above all else...humility. There are certainly more 'nuggets' in this book, but these are the ones that resonated with me.
