Author Biography
Janet Alston Jackson, is the author of several books, including her memoir A Cry for Light: A Journey into Love, winner of the National USA Book News Award for Christian Inspiration. Janet is a spiritual/inspirational writer, law of attraction and Mindfulness practitioner. She is the co-founder of Sporting the Right Attitude, a subsidiary of Self Awareness Trainings, LLC, which she owns with her husband, author Walter Jackson. Together the couple facilitates Self Empowerment workshops, and Mindfulness Based Stress Management workshops, to thousands including corporate executives, youth, college students, parents, teachers, women in recovery, law enforcement, health care workers, and entertainment industry executives. For 20 years Janet was a publicist for CBS and ABC Television Networks promoting A-List celebrities. Today, her mission is to help keep families together and to empower youth, including children with special needs. Her motivational company has partnered with CASA (Court Appointed Child Advocates (Los Angeles) to raise funds for abuse and neglected foster children who are wards of the court. A portion of the proceeds from her journal My Song Lyrics Journal, is going to Write Girl, a creative writing and mentoring organization she volunteers with, that promotes creativity, critical thinking and leadership skills to empower teen girls. Janet and her husband are the parents of three children, including two who are adopted, and one who has been healed of special needs.
