I'd never even heard of this story until my kids discovered the cartoon as a special feature on a DVD collection of Dr. Seuss cartoons. After they fell in love with the songs, my oldest found a copy of the book at the library, but the illustrations were done by a different artist and being based upon the songs of the cartoon, the rhyme scheme falls apart at times. Just imagine my surprise that they were able to put together Dr. Seuss's original drawings for a re-release, bringing back the original story to make an authentic Dr. Seuss book. While the kids still like the 90's adaptation, it's good to have the real thing in our bookshelf.
