Excerpt from The Christian Annual for the Year of Our Lord, 1918 The greatest immediate call before us as a church is, I believe, in the For ward Movement. It is comprehensive eugh to treat all phases of our needs and definite eugh to make possible a program of work. It is' of such magni tude that half-hearted effort will ever be able to insure its success. It must be made the big thing of our purpose for the' years to come. Every member should feel a just share of responsibility for its success. If every member of the Christian Church will align himself with this Movement, it will succeed. The coming year will make exorbitant demands and impose herculean tasks upon all Christians. The state of the world and its future uncertainty permits easy-going religion. The call of the day is for the strongest, in faith, heart, and body. The hour of the great sacrifice is upon us. The Master came to a period when, though he saved others, Himself he could t save. In the face of the demands of our country, a world and Christ's Kingdom, let us enter into a new covenant with Him to go with Him all the way.
