Author Biography
Stephanie Huesler has been interested in learning and language all her life and once she had discovered that the medium of writing could bring those passions together she never looked back. Raised in the Midwest of America, she began travelling the world just after high school, settled in Scotland for several years, and eventually settled with her husband in Switzerland. Interest in a wide variety of subjects has led to an eclectic path in life which has in turn lent itself to her writing. Her style of writing in the historical fiction genre has been compared to both Georgette Heyer and Jane Austen, though she enjoys writing in other genres as well as it gives her the opportunity to explore a wide variety of subjects and research; she has works in progress in Historical Fiction, Science Fiction, Fantasy, and good old-fashioned Contemporary Fiction. Her love of learning has driven her to research in areas as diverse as geology, mineralogy, astronomy, archaeology, science and technology, the history of medicine at sea, naval history in Europe, bioelectronics, biology, botany, music, etymology, linguistics and obscure languages. She can tell you the dimensions of the average coffin, how far a chaise and four can travel in a day, and what arsenic smells like when heated. She needs little sleep, which in turn leaves more time to explore her interests. Besides writing she is an active vocal coach and singer with four CDs under her belt to date. She began singing on stage at the age of four, recorded her first commercial work at eleven, and began vocal coaching adults at the age of fifteen. She began teaching English to adults at the age of eleven as well. When not coaching, writing, or household management, she enjoys a wide variety of crafts, is an avid film buff and enjoys cooking. She runs a forum for writers online dealing with linguistic, grammatical and etymological queries, which has stemmed from her training in TEFLA. She speaks fluent English, High German and Swiss German, and does simultaneous translation into English. Her husband of 20+ years is a keeper, and they share their home with three feline flatmates.
