'The Head of the House of Coombe' is a fictional examination of the pre-World War One power structure in Europe, and the political system that contributed to the onset of war. It is also the story of Robin, an intelligent yet incent girl who is abandoned by her socialite mother and used as a plaything by the rich and powerful.
