Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is a clinical syndrome that was formally recognized as a psychiatric diagsis in 1980. Post-traumatic Stress Disorder may develop after an extreme traumatic stress and is typically associated with combat veterans; however, it can and does afflict or trouble many other people. Like other mental illness, PTSD has boundaries; it does t discriminate based upon gender, education level, race, or socio-ecomic status.
