For use with POE camera: This switch needs to be powered by a POE+ to power one POE camera. If powered by only POE, it probably won't power 99% of the decent POE cameras out there. This makes its use case even more niche than I expected. Software: Firmware update is easy. But UI is flaky. You can see it doing cable tests. Sometimes the page goes blank. You refresh it and redo the test, and there are no visual cues regarding progress. I have TPLink switches that also do cable tests and they are more intuitive. Hardware: Surprisingly heavy for its size. Seems well built. For such a limited use switch I have no reason to believe it will not last a long time. Additional thoughts: I kept hearing Netgear routers have good hardware but firmware sucks. This switch is consistent with the reputation. This gives me second thoughts about buying Orbi for mesh system.Read full review

I had assumed that this was a powered switch which provided two POE ports, but in fact it is itself powered from POE and passes through the POE to two of its other ports. For me this was not what I needed, so I returned the device. To be honest, it seems a little over-priced for what it is. I'm sure being Netgear, that the build quality is fine and it would probably be reliable too.

Fantastic. I bought this not knowing if power passthrough would sufficient from a ubiquity switch pass through this to a ubiquity Pro access point. It is. Works amazing. Love it
