This is my first time building a computer. So picking a first board to test and use was crucial. This intel was the best decision for me. It has a bunch of ports, especially video ports. Even though cheap, its one of those best investments. This is also true if you decide to SLI or CROSSFIRE it. Or even put in 32gb ram. Right now im OC a 2500k at 4.2 stable, ad i couldnt be more happier. Once the rest of my stuff comes in, Im going to OC it to 4.5 ghz.

Not for the novice or experienced user. The interactions with the BIOS, Power control and RAID will leave you "stupified" as a professional well seasoned engineer. The motherboard likes to constantly reboot which is partially the fault of the definition of plug and play sata ports and auto power termination even though not configured to do so, floating drive designation numbers not relative to actual physical SATA ports, redefinition of boot priority based on Microsoft replacement of drivers, massive power requirements (at least 850w power supply), all memory sticks MUST BE EXACTLY THE SAME. Your cooling fan on CPU had better be able to keep up. Standard I7 dual quad core with Intel fan was running 175°. I had to go to Thermaltake fluid cooled radiator which took it down to 125°. The fan mandated the memory be installed prior to the fan because of physical constraints.Read full review

This is an amazing product at the current going price and is a well built feature packed board that offers something for everyone. 2 way Crossfire and SLI capable, it includes a Bluetooth and Wi Fi combo module, 4 SATA 6GB cables and 2 SATA 3GB cables. The first thing I noticed was how heavy the board is compared to others I have owned and I will say it is amazingly well built and a top tier product for anyone but the most extreme user. I was able to easily get my i7 2600 to 4.2 Ghz with no voltage changes on the turbo core which you can increase on non K chips if you want to be able to overclock base frequency you must have a K series chip. IMPORTANT : If you plan on using this board with Ivy Bridge 3rd generation core processors make sure you have a Sandy Bridge 2nd generation processor to install first in order to update the BIOS to enable Ivy Bridge support.Read full review
I'm using with an i7 2600s. Works great, using GTX 670 on it. Could only get 8 GB memory in dual to work. Tried 16 using all 4 slots and wouldn't boot. Can live with only 2 slots though. Updated to bios 0028 and have had no issues yet. I only bought this for use on 2nd Gen CPU's so have none of the issues others have had with the 3rd Gen CPU's. Tried to use a Cooler Master Hyper T4 on it, but would not fit. So I'm using the stock cooler. Processor so far has maxed at 63C under load. I may upgrade the cooler to a Cooler Master 212 evo in the future. I ended up buying 3 of these boards to have some as backup since they are killing sockets really fast these days. The 2nd Gen CPU's still work great for my needs.
Originally for 2nd generation processors (32 nm) it is a rock solid board at bios 28. I was able to test it with a 2nd gen core i3. I followed the intel flowchart for upgrading the bios to 3rd generation. Bios 42 endlessly booted like noted by many users. I got stability by downgrading to bios 37 and booting UEFI. Running a Xeon E3-1240 V2 with DDR3-1600 at default values and very pleased with the performance.
