The more I use the phone the less enamoured I am. That's partially android and part hardware. The lack of expandable memory bit me on holidays, away from WiFi and taking video and photos. I was soon cleaning memory and deleting apps and data. So I recommend the 16gb version at least. Battery is OK - easy to chew through in less than I day not really doing much special. Moved off iPhone and miss some of the ease of use and polish. But the phone is cheap for the feature set. Reckon I'll be checking iOS 7 when it comes out so this phone will do me til then.
I heard good reviews about the nexus 4, and I seized the opportunity to buy a second hand model on eBay. I like the specs: quad core processor, generous 2gb of Ram which means the phone handles most tasks at a good enough speed. For a 3g phone, internet browsing and downloading happen at reasonable speeds. Design is good and functional. Great screen for such an affordable phone. My dislikes: poor battery life, no expandable storage(you can't use a SD card), power button a bit fiddly, and more importantly, the screen tends to go blank during a call. You cannot cancel a call if you accidentally dial someone. Maybe its the default google dialer, but this definitely needs improvement. I would upgrade to a Nexus 5 if I get the chance.
There are 2 big drawbacks, firstly, it is only a 3G phone, which is not so much a problem. Secondly it has limited storage, 8Gb & no micro sd slot, that is a pain. All that said, for the money you won't find a phone with higher specs. The Moto G is arguably better value but can't match the Nexus 4 for raw power in processing or RAM. It is incredibly snappy & responsive, great screen, and you can leave plenty of apps open with noticeable lag. Ok Google, is a lot of fun. Google drive still sucks for trying to share photos but that's not really a Nexus specific issue. Very easy to back up all you stuff to Google's cloud services. You have to go into settings & uncheck only upload to Drive via Wi-Fi, otherwise you can't upload out & about. So overall a good phone with great hardware. Drawbacks being too little storage & no expandable memory. Just try and only install apps you need all the time & remember to upload pics & things to the cloud.Read full review
This is a great phone, easy and simple to navigate and use. A lot of features for the money, well done Google. Love all google services, I like google now and gmail app. Remember to keep it up to date and check all features, it is not just a phone!
