Many reviews are already out there, so I won't go on about this lens too much. It is an older lens that has been replaced by the newer 14-24mm and the 16-35mm but still performs well. I'd only buy this lens if you have a full frame camera as you would lose some of the wide end on a DX format camera (DX owners should buy the 17-55mm lens instead). Also it is smaller than both the 16-35 and 14-24 lenses which makes it good for travelling with (albeit fairly heavy). Awesome for landscapes and is nice and sharp at about f/8 to f/22. And great for interesting portraits too. It does focus to within 10cm or so (check other reviews) so you can get real close to your subject. Only drawback is that it doesn't have weather sealing :( It is also not a G lens and has an aperture ring which is fine and old skool as this is an old skool lens. If you know what you're doing, you'll love this lens as it is much cheaper than the 14-24mm lens and you can put filters on it. Best lens for street photography and journalism and landscapes.Read full review
Pin sharp and optically perfect across entire range - available at reasonable prices second hand considering the quality. Since buying this lens I have found that I have it permanently fitted to one of my Nikon bodies as it is very versatile for landscape and general photography. Fast autofocus and crisp, clear results. Heavy, of course, but tough as well!
Good price good quality very happy with this item
