The Nokia N900 is a great phone. It is also a great thing too. Does pretty much everything really well. And it's not an iPhone. Plenty of apps and features. And it's not an iPhone!!! Phone reception is great, battery life is OK, but with an external charger and a couple of batteries, no need to ever have it connected to a charger, and that in itself is a good reason to buy one. This is my second N900, and I may buy another just to have as a backup.
I got this last year, paid $220. Good: It is a very easy to use one because the focus is very clear, and with lots of tools installed for a easier control: like shaking to to phone awake; one button to call. In contrast, I was completely confused when picked up an iPhone4s, and a Samsung Galaxy S. Those gave a feeling of loss. It also share a very familar applications set to my computers. Also the phone itself is another. MyPaint, best painting application made til now: because of it, I damn want a larger screen version of N900, better 7 inch+. A darkroom application, one of best I've ever seen. Also camera capable taking raw, only phone can do this. Maybe you can see another in 3 years. Multi-touch is not necessary: it was designed mostly for consuming-only suckers. Before a kindle come in hand, I used it to read article under the sun. Before I heard others complain I noticed this phone will turn off touchscreen while talking to avoid your face made unwanted actions. Drawbacks: Screen have a dimmy backlight, bad at moderate light. Although works great under sunlight with its unique technology. Speakers are not loud enough. Battery is one problem, just a netbook level or worse. out-of-date application, the upgrade is slowwww as many moving to N9.Read full review
The screen is just too small for me. And the icons are even smaller. I need a magnifying glass to see things. My fingers are not "fat" but without the little pen they give you, it would be impossible to maneuver around the phone. I seriously think I should have got a larger screen. I can't forward my phone to another number with the same options as my simple phone only nokia. why would they limit the phone forwarding options???? I have to put the sim in my original phone to forward my number, then put it back into this one. I like nokia in general, but the menu's are different from their other phones. I hate to say it, but an iphone would have been a better choice. And I don't really like apple.
