Bought this for my young autistic son who is motors mad! He's not keen on the 'on board' experience - he prefers to be able to actually see the bikes in action & i must admit so do i! I think this DVD will appeal mostly to more serious bikers & those who own other DVD's in the TT series. I'm not a rider but i have pillioned on a Fireblade - & experienced first hand the speeds reached in this DVD. The skill of the riders is to be admired & following the circuits with a riders eye view is pretty hair raising stuff - though obviously no substitute for the real thing. Personally, found the best parts were the wet run with Shaun Harris & the run with Iain Duffus on his Fireblade. Iain also commentates through his run - i can imagine this technical commentary will be appreciated by serious riders. I enjoyed the bits mentioned above but didn't really find the rest of the contents very interesting - there's a run with ex-World Champion Bill Lomas on the 1950's Moto-Guzzi V8 (first ever on-board recording) & the DVD contains onscreen circuit graphics.Read full review
The sidecar footage is the best I've ever seen and the risks they take are almost beyond belief. I enjoyed the footage and short documentary about the Moto Guzzi V8. It is especially useful if you are looking for a good spectator point to watch the T.T. from. This slow and clear footage with the great V8 noise is a pleasant trip round the islands at about the same speed as most "normal" people travel. As for the wet run with Shaun Harris, it's interesting but nothing special, same goes for the lap with Ian Duffus. I've seen a lot of T.T. on-bike footage and in my opinion, it's worth buying this DVD just for the insane sidecar footage.
I've been meaning to buy a "TT lap" DVD for some time and the price of this one finally tipped me over the edge. It's a cracker. A wet solo lap through unforgiving terrain is mad enough - the on-sidecar footage truly hair-raising. The V8 Guzzi footage was a nice bonus - for those of us JUST too young to have seen it in action. Highly recommended
Bought for my wee brother. He thoroughly enjoyed and if I admite myself I also enjoyed it too. If you enjoy the TT then is for you!!!
